I'm a new-wave person much like yourself. Nearly all 327 Mawkish Twaddles I did on the radio in Frisco (2017-24) are at http://mixcloud.com/Bob_N/. BTW, Mawkish Twaddle is back. I do live shows on Mixcloud every 1-2 weeks. See above link for recordings.

Just now, as the foothills wait for the sun to awaken, the arcadian Scottish ethereality of this new Tacoma Radar reissue feels exactly right.

Wondering whether this dragon fruit is still good.

The postman delivered new LPs today from Massage, Creative Writing, and Permanent Opposite. As I listen to one after the other, I'm thinking what a good triple bill this would be.

We're only halfway through our first listen and it's already clear that the second LP from The Telephone Numbers is now my favorite album of '25. (The Gentle Spring drops to no. 2.) All sorts of Bay Area indiepop luminaries are here--especially on "Pulling Punchlines"--and every note is well placed.

You're making a lot of assumptions these days, Gray Lady.

Russell promised to return sooner than what would be March 2029. I hope they do.

Having said that, this performance at the Golden Gate Theatre was just a little less exciting than the '22 show. The lesser impact can probably be ascribed to the relatively lackluster album they're touring this time around.

Eighty-year-old Ron and soon-to-be 77-year-old Russell wowed Frisco again tonight. They were in top form, just like the last time I witnessed them (three and a half years ago at the Warfield).

I need to setup an alert for such transgressions of redundancy.

This must be the third time in the past week that I’ve seen “also” and “as well” in the same sentence — in respected publications, no less. You should know better, Gray Lady. Then again, of late you’ve also increasingly been using “underway” as well, too.

Hearing it this past July only confirmed that. And now here it is in tactile form, rotating at 45 revolutions per minute.

The first album from The Cords landed on the front porch 90 minutes ago. Having seen them twice in their native Glasgow last year—at Mono in July and at the Glasgow Weekender in August—I’ve long been convinced that the LP would be top-notch.

I fully expect that when CBS rolls out its 2025-26 lineup, each night will begin with a program called The Two Minutes Hate.

The CBS eye logo is suddenly beginning to make more sense. Not to mention its Big Brother franchise.

Will we ever get a mashup of The Cowsills’ “Siamese Cat” and "I’m Sticking With You”? I’m beginning to lose hope.

The 13th album from The Divine Comedy (the first in six years) landed on the front porch six hours ago. We're giving it a listen right now.

The 13th and final Saint Etienne album landed on the front porch a little over 72 hours ago. It’s finally made its way to the record player (with some help) for the first time. Of course, I first heard the whole thing on September 5, just like you did.

the kimmel thing is bad but as long as they arent rounding people up indiscriminately based on race, building concentration camps and talking about eradicating those they deem sexual deviants, i think we’ll be ok

Best song: Possibly "Fortune Teller" (not that one, fortunately).

The 14th Sloan album landed on the front porch an hour ago. Foxy and I are now getting a substantial dose of Canadian content. Observations: Jay gets the leadoff track (first time since Commonwealth). That's all so far.

It’s been six long days since the last Twaddle! There have been so many excellent releases since then that I decided it was time for a new Twaddle. This one has first-rate new sounds from Saint Etienn...
