Yeah that's what is infuriating about it - it's very deeply, obviously flawed, but when it's on point it's *incredibly* on point. When the music is jamming and you're alone in an alien wilderness trying to figure out how to use your vocabulary to progress, it *pops.*

Thing is, when I'm in the midst of an actual dungeon area, it's fine! Not amazing, but very competently made. If this had come out a few years after Metroid Prime 3, instead of nearly 20 years later, I'd be way less puzzled. Kinda makes me think a sequel could work much better. Less pressure.

The funny part is that while those "hints" annoy the crap out of me, one that told me "hey, you can only get this necessary upgrade if you go to X" was helpful because the game had no other way to signal you should travel back that way. Bizarre game.

I'd love to know where the desert came from. Like, was that just an irremovable part of the design Remedy inherited from the previous team? Some creative lead insisting they can take Metroid "open world?" Someone real into the bike mechanics trying to justify them? (The bike is bad.)

I'm increasingly convinced that the two biggest problems Metroid Prime 4 has are the open world that adds nothing and makes the backtracking mandatory in the genre a huge pain in the ass and the need to add NPCs that never shut the fuck up and ruin the atmosphere.

Got inspired by the Frieren meme challenge and made a tutorial for rotating objects in 3D! This looks at turning a common rotation "mistake" into an intentional choice.
