Edit to add The Kentucky Gentlemen.
I don't use Spotify but I can tell you with full certainty that The War and Treaty, Tami Neilson, William Prince, SZA, and Nanci Griffith were top spins this year.

What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Trust me, New Yorker person. We do not expect this.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

#SmallBusinessSaturday is trademarked and heavily promoted by American Express. Please do shop local small businesses today (and every day when you can).

Help those shops even more by not using Amex when you pay by card. On average they charge the largest payment processing fee. Cash is best!

This long, heartbreaking thread. Whew. Reason eleventy billion why I'm completely anti-AI.

Students unable to think.

"billionaires hurling addictive technology at us."

Whew.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

THE BEST Christmas song!
Does Thanksgiving end when you've had your meal and everyone has dissipated into the dark night? Yes? Well, then, it's now officially that time of year:

Ok weird share here. I'm allergic to turkey (and don't like ham) so every year I have a plate (or 2 or 3) mounded sky-high with alllll the glorious side dishes. I bring the corn casserole.

As of this moment, I'm a bloated sac of protoplasm.

As you’re preparing for your Thanksgiving meal, remember the skilled work it took to get that food to your grocery store.

Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and we can share some of what we know about the work behind the ingredients.
