The entire HR department at the CDC is gone. Everyone at the IRB, which makes sure studies are conducted ethically and rigorously, and the ethics office, which oversee conflicts of interest for CDC leaders and advisory committee members, were also let go.

This is a powerful account from a PhD student whose fellowship was terminated by NIH because it was part of a "diversity" program without any other considerations or understanding of what the program or the students were actually doing.

Parents will ask "is something going around?" and we would, based on media reports, anecdotal data, and experience would answer "oh yeah, probably something viral".

The CDC produces the NREVSS dashboard which tells us exactly what diseases are "going around".

Is has not been updated for 3 weeks.

This will happen across the country if it hasn't already. Translates to:
1: Patients can't get most in hospital care close to home (no visitors OR $$ to see the pt)
(hopefully clinics can stay?)

2: Some patients will die or end up worse off than they otherwise would due to associated delays in care
