so many Palestinian hostages released after being in dungeons for decades. There are people that stayed locked up for as long as I am alive. This is so heartbreaking

You're sitting on a kicksled, whizzing through the snow. A warm, kind presence is guiding the sled behind you, her mittened hand resting on your back. You feel very, very loved -- and very, very safe.

you have to kill the devil's advocate in your brain when you're writing, you have to smother the imaginary bad faith reader that lives in your head. Trying to please the voice that tells you the person reading your work is ignorant/malicious is a mind-killer. There are better ways to create cohesion

There are people who would argue that pirating it is the moral thing to do but I don't even know how to pirate games lmao

Hopefully DE is able to get you both in love and hopelessly addicted. At the very least there's a lot of really beautiful and really fucking clever prose to appreciate. I strongly encourage at least giving it a try! Like what the hell y'know? Might not work or might change your life kinda thing

I always keep it close, it's my emotional support The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte (1852), right next to my Disco Elysium transcript
A bunch of tabs open on my mobile firefox browser and one of them is The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte (1852)

“I swear to God, they didn’t feed us. They beat us while we were naked day and night.

Until our last day, they cut us and hit us and abused us. We endured every kind of torture, emotional and physical.

We couldn’t even sleep. They told me they killed my children.”

- released Palestinian prisoner
Palestinian prisoner Shadi Abu Seed has given a harrowing account of life inside an Israeli prison after his release as part of the ceasefire deal.

“I went hungry for the past two years. I swear to God, they didn’t feed us. They kept us naked. They beat us while we were naked day and night. We were tortured,” Abu Seed said.

“Until our last day in Israeli prison, they cut us and hit us and abused us. We endured every kind of torture, emotional and physical.

“We couldn’t even sleep. They threatened us with our children. They told me they killed my children. They told us that Gaza was destroyed. I arrived here and found that everything was gone. It looked like the end of the world. Everything is different.”

Brother, you already *were* a ghost. Up there, screaming — along with all of them. Scaring each other. Haunting each other. It's the living who are ghosts. The dead are silent. They don't rattle windows or write letters in blood. The living do. Leave them behind. Rest.

nothing in life is certain except for death and the fact that every time Sam Altman opens his mouth you're about to hear the dumbest shit a techbro is capable of conjuring with their impoverished minds

I died then I pretended nothing happened because honestly what is there to do 🥀
but tbh it wasn't as bad because the dudes doing martial arts will fart on purpose anyway, sometimes while they have you in a lock which is infinitely worse than any other scenarios

This is how I imagine JK Rowling when she posts.
JK Rowling says "ha ha.. h-heh. I won! I won!" She sits alone in the dark, bathed in the late of her computer screen. We pull back to see her in a large dark empty room. She continues "I won." Seeing the full scope of her cavernous workplace, she appears small and alone. She says, once again, "I won..."

I like to throw in something bizarre and experimental in the first few chapters to clear out anyone who thinks every difference of opinion is a "plot hole." I mostly do it for myself but I like to think that somewhere out there, a reader I don't like is having a bad time.
