In Wales, Cornwall, Edinburgh, London and so many places when most 30mph roads were changed to 20mph, people injured or killed by motor vehicles reduced by 20%+. With minimal change to journey times and £2bn saving in insurance costs it's a huge win. bit.ly/4gIBPlJ

I do believe all cities the world over to soon come to their senses, limit car movement, and build a dream of safe, abundant streets for people.

How to design safer intersections:

1. Near-sided signals. Placed before the bike/ped crossing, they prevent drivers from creeping into the path.

2. Pavement differentiation. High-contrast, colored crossings (like this red asphalt) clearly establish priority and command driver attention.

What’s funny is how winter cycling is still a big novelty for lots of people.

They’re happy to walk, ski, skate, sled, or snowshoe in the winter.

But biking in anything below 15°C? Impossible! Crazy!

Fortunately, attitudes have changed a lot in central Montreal. It’s fairly normal now.

Yes some drivers are irresponsible, but some roads are confusing or have outdated design. If roads are self-explanatory w approp. speed limits & separate non-drivers from drivers, for ex., we run less risk of harming each other or ourselves. ALSO makes travel more reliable & simpler 4 everyone. 4/4
