Optimistically include the average of a playoff run every few years?
It is *projected* to generate those revenues. What happens if the project doesn't meet those projections? How much municipal $ is 10 football games a year worth?
Biking today was only 5.5km, which was so nice with fall weather. And also more than 5 minutes *faster* than taking the same route yesterday, by car.
Not saying / doing racist and sexist things is absolutely a purity test that I want politicians to pass.

Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull”

First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided.

With me so far? 1/x

New from me: A presentation I gave Wednesday assessing PM Carney's record to date. My argument: his rhetoric disguises a pedestrian, status quo-oriented agenda that's preventing Canadians from having an honest debate about both the costs of deeper integration and of resisting US authoritarianism.
Carney vs Carney: Desperately seeking certainty
Canada is trapped in an unacknowledged debate over the nature of the US crisis, with PM Carney's words on one side and his actions on the other.

Not being able to say "my bad" and move on is a big contributor to the environment we are living in
Climate change also contributes to a lot of the migration to Europe. It is a problem that will only get worse as climate change accelerates. And we seem to be doing less than nothing about both issues, other than demonizing the people who have the misfortune to be affected already.

As I told @josephcox.bsky.social for this piece, if DHS is concerned that the actions of their own officers might inflame public opinion against the agency, they should work to increase oversight and accountability at the agency — rather than seek to have the evidence banned.
New: Apple banned an app that simply archived videos of ICE abuses. Rather than other apps that record ICE official's real-time location, Eyes Up is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." Videos from TikTok etc. Every submission manually reviewed

Apple Banned an App That Simply Archived Videos of ICE Abuses
Eyes Up's purpose is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." But it has been swept up in Apple's crackdown on ICE-spotting apps.

Any Ontario minister in Doug Ford’s government could soon have the power to create law-free zones — and decide what gets built there.

Ontario reporter @fatimabsyed.bsky.social explains:
I wonder if "you can't say the n-word" is just an indication that he can't pronounce it correctly
Your DIL has some incredible piping skills
We all know that society needs to address the problem of guns and mass shootings. But the idea that women are to blame for men feeling alienated *should* be dismissed. Shifting the blame to women means the problem won't get fixed.
The vote was to separate the varicella shot from the rest of the MMR for kids under 4. But the coverage is so headline driven a lot of people are going to think no more vaccines
Isn't this the group of people who dumped all over the idea of "every kid gets a trophy"?
So Fox News knows that his opinions were awful?

This is trans rights, too. There is no viable position for the Democrats other than “trans rights are human rights.” Trying to triangulate a position where you throw trans people under the bus “just a little” to woo swing voters only feeds the right’s argument that trans people are a threat 1/x
Tapping the sign
The NCC could also learn (*cough* KZM) and maybe find some existing surfaces to transform into bike lanes so the MUP can be saved for pedestrians
It would be really nice for the city to use construction as an indicator of which roads can be put on a permanent diet!
I wonder if the loss of morale is deliberate. There is an element of missionary psychology in this - send them into an uncomfortable environment to reinforce "us vs them" and make them feel more loyal when they get home.

Your weekly reminder that voter "concern" with immigration doesn't correspond to actual immigration levels.

It corresponds to the amount of coverage the media gives immigration.

This an entirely self-fulfilling mess, and it is entirely pointless.

Great short video by TransLink explaining “the empty bus lane myth”
You know this was in response to a fat joke, right? Don't fall to their level! Your whole statement is on point, except that one word...
