And it marks a big, big turning point for us as a successful activist collective. Because if a company with a yearly revenue of over 40 BILLION dollars, which employs more than 120,000 Australians, which has over 1,800 stores nationally and which supports more than 8,000 regular suppliers is worried about the impact of us witches, you can bet your bottom dollar our complaints to them are biting, hard. No way would Coles do this unless our boycotts and their juxtaposition with Kyle's vomitous content were negatively impacting their brand or their profits, or both. And it's particularly interesting they're exhorting us in the pic below to be careful of confusing them with their suppliers, because it means they truly, definitely and absolutely don't want to go back on our FOES list if they can possibly help it. This is the first major supermarket to pull out during this time, witches. @woolworths, @igaAustralia and @ALDIAustralia are all still regularly advertising (IGA and Aldi do seem to have stopped in Melbourne but their ads still appear in other states, which is worse than if they hadn't left at all as it indicates they thought we were only recording them in Melbourne: no such luck, fuckers). When supermarkets started pulling out of the Alan Jones campaign, it signalled the real beginning of the end for him. Suddenly, he was radio poison. And he was so angry about it he attacked Woolworths live on air not long after they withdrew (which obviously went down with all the supermarkets like a lead fucking balloon, what a fuckhead). Because decisions like Coles' commitment to run away are made at the highest level of the company, given their general corporate distaste of consumer action (which they correctly see as akin to unionism) and given their desire to be free to advertise to as broad a market as possible. And because once these big guns get scared of their brands being showcased on air right before and after live exhortations to "butcher the pussy" or "throw it up a transsexual", the ARN Network will be terrified of just how much more income they're likely to bleed in coming months, and whether they can afford to keep Kyle and Jackie on if they want to even stay in business. Let's keep on going, witches. This is an exciting and exhilarating day to be a witch. It proves considered, relentless and powerful collective consumer action works. And it proves that the women (and some men) of Australia are fucking-well sick to death of the companies we fund passing those funds along to the male-run media who refuse to stop objectifying, abusing and hating us live on air.
