it's sad people feel a fic "flopped" cuz what? It's not on a rec list? it's not got some magic ratio of kudos/comments? this is also an annoyance lol i've learned people will judge if they wanna read a fic by a kudos/comments ratio? It all feels so insane. some of the best fic are low interaction

..way more interaction and accolades than any fic. People seem way too shy about leaving comments. I find out all the time "oh i was telling my friend about your fic!" or hey someone recced your fic to me how cool! And yeah Im over here with crickets and tumbleweed to my face. It does get lonesome

I've seen this statement made by a lot of ppl"My last fic flopped" or "still sad my last fic wasn't a hit" and it's genuinely heartbreaking that the skew of things re: tiktok etc "lkes" dopamine or whatever. a hit fic is one you had fun making. But I would be remiss not to acknowledge art gets...

I think a lot of people have forgotten that fanfiction is written by the author for their own enjoyment. If you love it, fantastic! But a fic doesn't "flop" if you don't get enough notes/comments. And if you, reader, dislike it, you can simply click away. We're trying to have fun
