Do dowsing rods work any better than just guessing where water is?

Do they need to be a special stick or will any forked branch do?

Do they have a single origin or have multiple cultures created them?

Can a dog effectively use a dowsing rod? They are good at sticks after all.

I did not know they could be used to (theoretically) talk to ghosts. I've only heard of them as being used to (supposedly) find water.

Or oil but that was a very specific fictional use in a Nancy Drew computer game.

Folks if you usually do end-of-year/holiday charity giving, consider moving it up to the beginning of November instead and hit up however many local food pantries you can afford to give to. (Check if you or a spouse/partner's employer does charity matching, too.)

In short, we do not know exactly what will happen with November SNAP benefits if the shutdown continues, but we do know there will not be enough money available to fully fund everyone's EBT card.

Waiting for my bus and a man exited an arriving bus SCREAMING obscenities (at the driver, another rider? Unclear). He then imediatly came over to me and tried to chat and get my number. Acted offended when I declined to talk to him. 😵 Dude, I saw how you treat people not 30 seconds ago.

For using up beets you can make a nice dip/sandwich spread with beets, walnuts (or other nut) garlic, and a little lemon juice and olive oil or tahini or both. If your blender is up for it keep the beets raw or cook them for an easier puree. And season to taste of course.

To clarify, I then set the temp to higher than that. But it has to be quite chilly before I turn on the heat otherwise I lose.

To be fair, if I were to have security cameras in my home I would deff point one at the stove so I could check it was off and safe from afar.
