Two tall black towers with a bridge between them. Two figures face each other on the bridge. A figure rests on a beach, with a rowing boat and a turtle next to them. A castle from the front, with a tall wall and two broad towers within.

I made this for a friends Birthday One Shot of Delta Green
A moody illustration of a man with a bloody mouth and glowing eyes looking angry.
Above him a yellow full moon glows.
You can make out a car in the shadows under him.
A traffic line smeared with blood cuts the illustration in half and on it is the title written in red letters: Delta Green: Cannibal Blues

This week I’m sharing an #osr geared mass combat system structured around a single step dice mechanic. Simple, scalable, and set up for the savagery of war.

If the layover isn’t too bad, it’s probably worth going from Manchester (imho). Avoid Heathrow if you can, if you can go from Luton or Standstead it might be worth the train if it’s cheap!

Just wrapped up my short run of Vast in the Dark with a hodgepodge #nsr system inspire by the book’s content. It was good fun, and I’d highly recommend the zine!

It highlighted to me that I struggle with procedurally generated spaces, and that planned locations are definitely more my thing.

I love award shows. It's no secret. It's why I've spent months writing, refining, and trying to distill my Ennies judging experience.

It's a 4-part series (I know, I know). One article a day. Today's lays out my goals and puts the focus on awards in general.

#MÖRKTOBER day 5: STAIN

THE STAINED FIELD

MÖRKTOBER day 5: Stain

The Stained Field
Just to the east of the Múr, where the land grows flat and swollen with damp, there sits a stretch of dry, flaking soil, a scab on the face of the earth. This is the Stained Field, and it is the domain of Isak Skarvlund.
His workers stamp the fields in metal boots lined with sharp studs seven inches long. They stab them into the scabbed earth, then siphon the liquid that seeps from the wounds into clay cats strapped to their backs. Occasionally their masks slip and the vapours overwhelm them. Those who fall are subsumed by the earth.
Under cover of darkness, the fresh wounds scab over again, ready for another day’s harvest.

Scar Wine
Fermented for three years in clay jars, it is a powerful intoxicant when diluted and a deadly poison when ingested neat. A bottle of the worst vintage costs 300 silver. The rarest, best years cost much more.

The illustration shows a swamplike field with two characters on what appears to be long stilts. They wear backpacks and strange masks covering their entire heads. In their hands are sticks ending in bells and pearls.
