Would be great if ppl like @kristenwelker.bsky.social would mention the billions in permanent tax cuts to the wealthy the GOP gladly passed when discussing basic healthcare premium affordability w any member or supporter of the GOP.

Good morning. It is now 12:01 AM, which means a 25% tariff on all $114B in non-USCMA-compliant auto part imports has now gone into effect, alongside a hideously complex system allowing carmakers to rebate tariffs on 15% of the content in a US-made car this year & 10% next year

Pretending that the two party system is to blame, is just another lazy excuse for not voting correctly.

No, it is not the fault of the two party system that people chose to elect Nazis.
We've had a two-party system in the United States since the early 1800s. You simply cannot argue that a two-party system per se is responsible for our current maladies & that we need a multi-party system when those maladies were not present in other eras. Most political scientists get this.

Okay, I have a theory about how to get $557 bn. If I am right, that's base plus phony emergency, but net of all CHIMPs and rescissions.

If that's the case - and if they're only calling for $15 bn of phony CHIMPs, then Trump is actually calling for a $193 bn cut - 25%. We will know more tomorrow.
Pretty difficult to make sense of them saying they're cutting NDD down to 557 - for a cut of 163 (they call it a 22% cut). Won't be able to tell until we see their tables tomorrow. But I'm going to guess the cut is actually meaningfully bigger than 21% once we're able to look under the hood.
Trump calling to cut non-defense discretionary funding by $163 billion. That is a 21% cut.

We'll see *some* of the details tomorrow, but this is the part of the govt that funds Head Start, LIHEAP, WIC, NIH, etc.

It is impossible to achieve cuts that large w/out destroying core govt functions.

Trump is calling to cut NDD* to the lowest level on record - by far.

This is the part of the budget that funds education (Title I, IDEA), nutrition (WIC), child care (CCDBG), biomedical and other cutting edge research (NIH, NASA, EERE), and some critical low-income programs (Section 8, LIHEAP).

We are about to experience a supply chain crisis. If your pet takes a medication or requires a special food, consider stocking up on it now. Same for your meds and any equipment you might need for your medical needs, like CPAP equipment or syringes. (Only one company manufactures syringes in the US)

Trump is calling to cut the part of the govt that funds child care, education, & nutrition for newborns by $163 bn - according to his own numbers - and probably actually $193 bn.

This is far more extreme than last time. For comparison, in 2017, he called to cut this part of the budget by $54 bn.

Some folks are getting confused by this scenario but the upshot is that vaccines are already approved on the basis of placebo-controlled trials, what RFK is trying to do is eliminate vax updates, which don’t require placebo controlled studies. So basically trying to kill annual flu/COVID updates.
Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise."

Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms.

Ethical violation as POLICY.
