I would suggest that two terms should be the maximum that anyone be permitted to serve as general president, and that they then not be allowed to swap positions to any other executive board office in order to maintain control, such as Putin did in Russia.

Jim Hoffa held on for one election too many and that gave rise to O’Brien and his deceptive UPS rebellion. To listen to Teamsters still employed at the brown rainbow, automation, job losses, and increasing workloads are the unforeseen consequences of O’Brien’s contract negotiations.

@msainato.bsky.social Do you know who would benefit from term limits? The Teamsters. The present system tends to anoint the general president as a king for life, who can then run the union as if it were a feudal empire and good Teamster officials put their members and locals at risk by opposing him.

O’Brien is sucking up to trump to get the MAGA vote, that unfortunately exists within my union, for the upcoming Teamster election. He once vocally opposed trump, but that was then, this is now.

O’Brien is a self serving phony who said whatever he felt would promote him to the highest office in the Teamsters, and now he will say anything to hold on to that job. It’s really a pretty cool gig if you can get it. I’d rather be president of the Teamsters than president of the United States.
