I love the women of the W, and I watch many games each year. But also I am well aware that the ABL existed before the WNBA, and played during actual basketball season, and the NBA acted to crush them and created the W to play only during the NBA off-season so as not to threaten the men's league.

This was a deal designed to protect the NBA, and those owners of WNBA teams who are also owners of NBA teams. It grossly undervalues the W.
