And it's so easy to give Vivian a proper ending in the form of her striking off on her own and making new friends who treat her with the respect that she deserves. I just find it extremely insulting because my dad was very much like Beldam IRL.

It just gets more uncomfortable for me the more I think about it and ponder over the game's writing. Like this is my problem with that game's story. If you're gonna write something heavy like this, you have to commit to it and accept the consequences of it.

Vivian's identity being unconfirmed in the original is the least of that story's problems. I just fucking hate it. I was so upset when I got to the end and they arbitrarily made Beldam "Good" when she's in some cases even more depraved than Dimentio. I hate it here.

It's one of the most realistic stories in Mario but that also makes it hella infuriating at the same time. It's exactly as bad as people say that the divisive finales of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is but it gets all of these passes.

And Beldam's response to Vivian being gone is not to reflect but to actively try to kill her at numerous occasions and be proud of it. To the fact that she was the one who set up the X-Nauts in the first place and started the events of the entire game... And Vivian forgives that for some reason!?

To be entirely truthful, I kind of resent how badly Vivian's story was handled in Thousand Year Door. It's a very uncomfortable story about this honest to god sociopath who is known for lying and deceit just inexplicably decides to be good after the cavalcade of abuse I've seen.

And who can forget "Trender-Bender" Where they made an entire episode about how harmful it is to masquerade as a Transgender person to avoid criticism for your sociopathic behavior. I mean, it is the show's fault. Ryan was clearly emulating the villains of those episodes so I had to let go.

No, no. He does have a point. I remember the very well-received episode "Groom this, shithead!" where Applejack protects her sister from being taken advantage of by a sex offending stallion and it was teaching us the wonderful lessons about how to protect our friends from groomers like Ryan.
