The Trump Administration’s assertion that it can't use SNAP’s contingency reserves for SNAP benefits is contrary to:
▪️The plain language of the law
▪️Their own (now deleted) shutdown plan
▪️Guidance from prior Administrations

We have the receipts:

SNAP’s Contingency Reserve Is Available for Regular SNAP Benefits, as USDA and OMB Have Ruled in Past

The Administration must use all available options to fund November benefits for the 1 in 8 people in the U.S. who need SNAP to afford their grocery bill.

@schumer.senate.gov might finally have the Republicans by the small hairs. They're worried about SNAP because it impacts their voters but also, they don't want to take the blame for ACA subsidies expiring. This is why @democrats.senate.gov must not cave on this. Make Thune end the #GOPShutdown

I’m liking the buycott list. I think we should all be shopping at brick and mortar small businesses too. We need small businesses to make our towns much more livable. And, the #trumptariffs are really hurting them.

My response to the NYT’s “moderate to win” argument: The data shows the strategy is tapped out. Being seen as moderate by voters doesn’t boost votes, replacing every progressive with moderates would net 0 seats, and the graveyard of defeated D incumbents if full of moderates, not progressives.
