The democrats need to keep this shutdown in full effect until the administration caves on healthcare. We need to keep the pressure up and growing until EVERYONE that needs food has access, and not accept only some of our kin getting benefits spread out over time.

Protect people. Disrupt the regime’s plan. Disobey the regime’s orders. Protect the infrastructure and institutions they’ve got (while continuing to push them to be better and more democratic). Build alternatives.

We have to have their backs. We have to not throw our folks under the bus for the myth of security for ourselves. We have to not equate mistakes and messiness for malfeasance. We can’t be above reproach or critique, without tearing each other up online.

So…our job, our focus, our discipline must be intentional. We have to disobey. We have to be noncooperative. We have to humanize folks who are targeted by the administration.

And we all know, one of the main reasons for using the word “ter*o*ism” is to discourage dissent and fuel other racist policies instead of addressing the root causes of violence.

Over-criminalization, over-policing & suspicion, surveillance, insufficient protection & failure of federal policies to take seriously the epidemic of white supremacist violence allows the same Black communities that are over-policed to also be the primary targets of white nationalist violence.

Black communities are also disproportionately impacted by being increasingly surveilled and prosecuted under those laws. It increases the regime’s ability to target protestors and organizers and anyone refusing to go along with their evil and harmful plans.

The White House continues to threaten more action against “domestic ter*o*ism” & “organized political vio*ence” Black communities are especially disproportionately impacted—not only through white supremacist violence (ask me how I know).

Or immigration policies that racially profile people of color AND have a disproportionate impact on people of Black descent (5.4% of undocumented migrants are Black—and are 20.3% of potential deportations; shoutout to the Black Alliance for Just Immigration for tracking these numbers).

Whether it’s criminalizing DEI—and its impact on everything from retail to education, philanthropy to service provision by direct service institutions and nonprofits. Or redistricting and gutting the Voting Rights Act to dilute Black voter power.
