On this day in 1793, Pilâtre de Rozier and the Marquis d'Arlandes, a French military officer, made the first free ascent in a Montgolfier Brothers hot air balloon. The pair flew from the center of Paris to the suburbs, about 5.5 miles (9 km), in 25 minutes.

An air show at Moffett Field when we were dating holds some memories for me and Bob and our very sore feet after a very long walk.
On this day in 1935 Moffett Field was transferred to the War Department, and given to the Army.
