Kia ora Santa,
Who am I? I’m an art teacher who loves retro fabric prints, enamel pins, good espresso coffee, vintage teaspoons and much much more. Some of the photos on my timeline indicate my tastes and aesthetic #MWSecretSantaAoNZ
They have followed with two equally cynical offers (on 5 Sept & 10 Oct), both with unacceptable clawbacks which will worsen our working conditions /7
As for the timing of the collective actions, this is on the government. The PPTA initiated bargaining in early May. We didn’t get the an offer back from the govt until 16 July. It was a deeply cynical offer low balling us at 1% and full of clawbacks no member would willingly accept /6
Not to mention, the govt wants to remove of teachers’ eligibility to claim actual and reasonable expenses for attending call-back days (e.g childcare). /5
This means that we could be asked to be at school AT ANY HOUR before 8:30 am and after 4:30 pm with no limits on the frequency of this. This shows little respect or regard for teachers /4
With no more restrictions on employers requiring teachers to attend school outside of 8.30 am- 4.30 pm during term time. Naturally we’re not thrilled about this /3
The govt’s offer is full of clawbacksE.g., call back days. Currently schools can use up to 5 admin days & 5 PD call back days. Admin days are commonly used for parent teacher interviews, prize giving etc. The govt offer would require call back days to only be used in term breaks /2
And the idea is to make a point to the politicians.
I’m a teacher and a PPTA member. This letter just seems … odd. Not to mention very easy to disprove. A lot of what she mentions is nowhere in our collective agreement claims. It’s just spin to distract.
I feel like a werewolf in comparison.

Can't stop thinking of this from yesterday
The rest will keep. I think it took me a full 6 months to unpack the boxes in the garage.
It was my birthday today. I had to be at work, but it turned out to be a nice day with lots of treats. And I came home to make lego flowers I was given this morning.
My birthday is next week. Because the govt shifted term lengths this year, I get to be at work for my birthday 🙄 😒 instead of being a lady of leisure for the day.

Mmm. An argument that they’ve used for canning AH is relatively low participation numbers (for students studying 14+ credits- & don’t get me started on cherry-picking of numbers). Pray tell what are the numbers/modelling for AI and Megatronics? Very cynical NeoLib ideology driving decisions.
I am surprised that they thought we could be placated with the idea of Art History being integrated into other subjects, when every secondary teacher I have spoken to sees through it in a split second.
Congratulations! When us move in day?
