it's just weird to be able to buy something that represents like X hours of someone else's labor even though i already do that all the time for everything and my money comes from me also selling hours of my own labor every day. like it doesn't feel like i should be able to buy time from someone else

it's always a little weird to me when people mention valve not being publicly traded as the reason why they don't make scummy business decisions when like *gestures at steam* but also like TF2 and CSGO kind of pioneered insane pseudo-investment microtransactions in videogames

A couple of news headlines are mentioned, and the gist is that valve added an ability to trade up skins by sending in 5 reds for a knife or pair of gloves. Reds are usually worth $10, while knives tend to be in the thousands.
