I’ve lost count of the number of elected Republican officials around the country who have been threatened with MAGA primary challengers for a variety of reasons. It is in the hundreds. What fun it must be to be a Republican who has an independent thought or position!

Exactly that’s a spot-on observation. It’s less “strategic planning” and more blunt-force coercion. A true strategist would weigh political risk, optics, and long-term consequences; this reads like a threat dressed up as leverage.
