TIL there’s an RFC for the JSON content in HTTP error responses: RFC 9457 Problem Details for HTTP APIs (I love how there’s a application/problem content type).
RFC 9457: Problem Details for HTTP APIs
This document defines a "problem detail" to carry machine-readable details of errors in HTTP response content to avoid the need to define new error response formats for HTTP APIs. This document obsoletes RFC 7807.

A trans woman wrote to Wetherspoons to ask which toilets they're meant to use. Wetherspoons replied acknowledging the Supreme Court's verdict...and that trans customers can use whichever loos they want to but to please lock the cubicle door.

Labour now being outflanked on the left by Wetherspoons.

The Gist: Trans rights are Data rights thegist.iethegist.ie https://www.thegist.ie/the-gist-trans-rights-are-data-rights/
Great analysis of both the recent UK court ruling and a recent CJEU ruling on trans rights. The CJEU ruling is much more relevant to Ireland but got no press coverage.
The Gist: Trans rights are Data rights
A UK court has made a decision defining genders which has put it at odds with a less noticed, more important, decision from the CJEU. This is the Gist.

I remember gigging the celtic tiger nightclubs when they started to collapse. 2011ish. If I listen to pop songs from that era now, Pitbull, LMFAO etc, It sounds different, because my memory of that music is hearing it echoed through giant empty nightclubs. I watched it all crumble. Horrible memories
Cant believe the stats on dead nightclubs in Ireland. They used to burn money. I remember Shemar Moore did an appearance in Maynooth. I remember bouncy castles in a club in Letterkenny. Sean Kingston performing live was hard to avoid in rural Irish nightclubs at one point

Half a billion people— the whole of the EU’s citizenry— owe their right not to be casually surveilled en masse by their governments to Karlin’s reporting on Data Retention.

We literally cited it to the court in the DRI data retention case.
The end of an era and certainly, surely, the single most insightful run on a rapidly changing field.

Karlin Lillington’s last column in today’s Irish Times.

Climate experts say this will threaten Ireland's climate commitments.

The Meta thing is interesting because users have been vocally opposed to all these tweaks along the way & they have defended each one w/ metrics+engagement.

But when there’s competition, people are moving.

It’s a reminder that engagement ≠ enjoyment. Wonder what experts have to say about this ⬇️

Exactly why I’m pleading with folks to vote all the way down this year for #GE24 - don’t let the racists in! Block them with others even if you don’t love the other parties.
Very common question. Think of it this way: the Irish electoral system not only allows you to support the candidate(s) you like, but also to punish the ones you hate.

If you are genuinely passive about a batch of candidates, it’s ok to leave their boxes blank - but if you can rank them, you should!
Are you best to vote down the full ballot? Say for Donegal, I only plan on going 1-5 since we have 5 seats.
