aging hippies are real Americans. we fought in and also protested Vietnam. we suffered through the Saudi Oil Crisis. we became parents under carter, reagan, bush. we sent our kids to die in Iraq and Afghanistan. we worked, paid taxes, voted, volunteered.

our votes count just as much as any others.

when i worked for the Navy i participated in live missile firings at sea. they had to clear hundreds of sq miles of ocean for those events.

when i heard they might fire over land, i thought no way would that ever be cleared.

There are going to be lots of civilians called on the carpet for this.

if he were a king the govt would be open, but he’s not a king. yet he can choose what stays open and what is closed. so Trump graciously allowed the protests to happen. and he’s not a king. got it. makes perfect sense.

no kings day was planned long before the shutdown. it wasn’t Schumer’s stunt.

funny, i didn’t see any pro-Hamas or pro-Marxism signs yesterday.

Rhetoric, violent or otherwise, is protected speech.

None of it was anti-American, just anti- ‘this administration and its policies’.

i live in an area with lots of retirees - rural/semi-rural, decent weather year round - and very white / republican. (see profile pic)

i couldn’t stop smiling at the local event (‘protest’ doesn’t have the right vibe). what i saw was lots of young people in the mix which was quite heartening.

but it needs a point. by itself, it’s not particularly revealing. many major metro areas are red but are economic hubs regionally. more colors would only really show how the bottom half splits out.

i think it says something more about the kind of data being portrayed than the map itself.

it’s a heat map with only two temps. if a square mile contributes to GDP above the 50% point it’s blue, below that it’s red (needs diff colors - not a voting map).

it says is there are commercial activities in some highly populated areas that produce much higher economic value-services, sales, etc.

they think videos like this will usurp or undermine the power of the idea; i.e., it’s just another one of Trump’s bits to own the libs who make stuff up about trying to crown himself.

i’m disheartened that any discussions of a religious nature are occurring at govt expense

US constitution may have been influenced by our founders biblical knowledge, but they knew better than to advance christianity over other religions and vice versa. religion has no place in a govt for everyone.

Trump was bored. Putin wasn’t praising him or making the story about him. So he’s setting there listening to a historical dissertation he’s having trouble following because he 1) doesn’t care; 2) doesn’t know world history. Of course he’s going to threaten to leave.
