Something exciting that I'm currently working on is adding vertical cross-sections to the ESSL Radar Displayer. And one of the more interesting phenomena that I've seen in them is debris fallout from the tops of storms with violent tornadoes. Here is an example of precisely 4 years ago today:

Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.

Last weekend was a wonderful #winter weekend with bitterly cold nights. For #Frankfurt it was the coldest night since January 2024 and the coldest November night since 36 years. Würzburg (records starting 1947) set a new November #record with -10.7°C (old: -10.5°C (15.11.1983)).

Year 2025 at #Zugspitze. Here daily mean temperature in comparison with MeanMax and MeanMin of each day since records startet. Similar graphics for Max and Min temperature. Not one single negative record but several positive day records (10 mean, 9 max, 8 min). 6.11. is stunning and a new Nov record.

Sehr strenger #Frost in Österreich 🥶
Zum ersten Mal seit 27 Jahren wurde in einem November in bewohntem Gebiet die Minus-20-Grad-Marke geknackt: in Tannheim im Tiroler Außerfern.

This night was even colder with below -9 degree without any snow. This is remarkable for November, imo.
November 23, 2025 at 8:45 AM
That was a really cold November night with around -8 degree. It probably was the coldest for quite some years. And this only 4 nights after we actually had our first frost of the season. That is quite something.

100% true!

On a bike, we're more equal as a family than in a car, where we, as parents, sit in the front seat and direct contact with our children in the back is much more superficial and functional.

Cycling together creates memories; driving together doesn't!

Climate Change will not only affect poor countries. It will also heavily influence people in rich countries, even they are not directly influenced by severe weather. This is just the beginning...not only in the US...
“They won’t insure you,” Ms. Rojas said. “No one will buy from you. You’re kind of stuck where you are.” Our political leaders might not believe in climate change, but insurance companies know the score. And it's being felt disastrously, all over the country. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
