Props to CBC Radio News on the report of #BlackFriday consumer spending. It mentioned increases and also noted prices are higher, discounts have remained the same, and more people are using buy now - pay later options.
This gives a more accurate picture than just "spending is up".

I don't think people have lost their minds. They've been given permission by people in authority to release all of their suppressed feelings, beliefs and emotions, no matter how awful they are. They've been enabled by those in power to show their true colours.
