If I ever win the lottery, I'm gonna fully fund SO MANY aid requests on here.

As it is, I'm unemployed and going back to school full time for a career that is absolutely not gonna make me wealthy, so all of you whose content i enjoy… I'm sorry I can't do more.
Get you a partner as wonderful as @spoiledprincess.bsky.social, who will go out of their way to mail-order for you a box of #stroopwafels from a specific bakery in your hometown just because they know they're your favorite.

She's amazing.

And these stroopwafels are, too.

Tired of hearing "Minneapolis won" or "Minnesota won." No. We lost bigtime. Our state government failed to activate the National Guard to do anything more than serve donuts and coffee. State/local cops aided the enemy. It was only the citizenry's refusal to capitulate that's driving ICE off.

I don't want to take anything away from the Swiss men's #curling team, because they shot an amazing game.

But I absolutely couldn't make any sense out of what #TeamUSA was trying to do. The shot-making was already sub-par, but even the shot-calling was… befuddling.

Who's the most famous alum of your high school?

One guy got drafted by the Chicago White Sox (didn't make it very far).

One girl (whom I had been friendly with in some community theater productions) was later arrested for breaking into a big movie star's house after she'd been stalking him.
Who's the most famous alum of your high school?

This was well done by @jacobfeldman.bsky.social (it's very helpful.

But also.... maybe leagues and networks shouldn't make this so confusing to the point where a full 16-box flow chart is required to figure out how to watch baseball.

Acknowledging that (A) I am no expert (nobody take my opinion seriously) and (B) @rollingstone.com's various "200 Greatest [genre] Albums of All-Time" lists are comically flawed in many ways:

Digital Underground's 'Sex Packets' (1990) is ridiculously under-ranked at #114 on their #HipHop list.

Seen tonight, slapped up on the window of an empty storefront in Ybor City, Tampa.

That's some good old-fashioned motivation if I ever saw it.

It's so rare that you can ever point to a specific track and confidently say, "Here! Right here is where this genre peaked! This is it!"

But I'm telling you, the version of "Rubber Duckie" on 'Sesame Street Fever' (1978) might just be that for #disco.

That feeling when you find a #vinyl #LP that's right in your wheelhouse, that you didn't already have, and is in just the right condition: (1) cheap, and (2) still sealed.

This afternoon's listening is P.D.Q. Bach's 'Liebeslieder Polkas / Twelve Quite Heavenly Songs' (1980)

I have a complaint about the new 'The Muppet Show' special:

They gave us an appearance of Crazy Harry, but he didn't blow anything up at all.

I am disappoint.

(Otherwise, I actually found it to be pretty enjoyable. Please make more.)

MLB dot com will staff every beat, though use a (well-qualified) stringer for roughly 40% of road games. A look at teams with *zero* or one non-MLB beat outlet:
WAS
MIA
MIL
ARI
COL
TB
CLE
KC
SEA
SAC/LV.

Many others come close to qualifying.
Andrew and @spencernusbaum.bsky.social took on covering the #Nationals at a challenging time and brought urgency, creativity and life to a moribund franchise. To think this amazing beat coverage will simply be shuttered is...unthinkable.
That said, I know these dudes are just getting started.
I was among the many sports reporters laid off by The Washington Post today. Feeling a lot of gratitude for my time working for this paper.

Not looking back. Looking ahead to what’s next!

This is about The Washington Post but it is also about the slow death of movie theaters, of book stores—the rapid integration of AI into schools—the Kennedy Center—the way so many people in power are afraid of art (and wow even sports) for the power it has to give people common language and cause.
