They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then:

No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism

AND

Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”

One dynamic that national coverage of campus speech has understated is the degree of surveillance for the purposes of punishment. In this case, the student wanted anonymity. In other cases, students are trying to build a brand. Few students but big effects.

This gets at one of the dynamics that has really changed teaching. Faculty never know when we are being recorded by students, and for what purpose. Hard to maintain conditions of trust in a classroom where political monitors are on hand to report wrongspeak. Literally what happens in China.

The student who confronted McCoul declined a request for an interview and did not respond to a list of questions. The Tribune is not naming the student, who is concerned for her safety.

After class ended a small group of students stayed back to offer their support for McCoul, including two students who were nonbinary.

“Obviously, it was kind of an ambush,” said Lisette Oliva, one of the students in the class.

She said the student’s confrontation with the professor felt performative.

“I totally understand her feeling uncomfortable, but I definitely think she could've done that on her own time or like emailed the professor,” Oliva said. “Like, she said she already had a meeting scheduled with the president.”

After he ordered the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to pull funding for NPR and PBS, the CPB responded that it is authorized and funded by Congress and is not subject to the president's authority.

WASHINGTON, D.C, (May 2, 2025) — Patricia Harrison, President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), issued the following statement today regarding the President’s Executive Order on public media:

“CPB is not a federal executive agency subject to the President’s authority. Congress directly authorized and funded CPB to be a private nonprofit corporation wholly independent of the federal government.

“In creating CPB, Congress expressly forbade ‘any department, agency, officer, or employee of the United States to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over educational television or radio broadcasting, or over [CPB] or any of its grantees or contractors…’ 47 U.S.C. § 398(c).”
