South Londoner, trying to find moments of sanity in a mad world
#NationalTrust #NT members have followed the board's recommendations and elected sane candidates to the NT's Council at the 2025 AGM

The right-wing #RestoreTrust candidates were defeated again.

For those unfamiliar, there's a wonderful OFCOM document that lists the public's perception of "rude" words being used on TV and radio.
37 pages of it, including words not in English ...

Bluesky is not a porn site. It is a social media site that does allow sex workers and doesn't automatically censor sex-related (including explicit content).

Bluesky says it will now block that and other content unless you have scanned your face, identification documents, etc.

Starting July 25, Bluesky will require users in the UK to scan their face, upload an ID or verify their identity with a bankcard.

I realize that platforms feel they have no choice but to comply with the government surveillance schemes, but shocking nonetheless.

The #Glastonbury #BobVylan performance was not 'broadcast' by the BBC but instead narrow-casted/ streamed.

If Ofcom wishes to investigate streamed content, I look forward to it taking similar action re non-broadcast content distributed on TalkTV, Piers Morgan, GBNews etc.

so uhh, this means you can build a feed that only shows posts that governments want banned in their country. Turkey says a post should be banned? What about a feed that shows all posts that the gov wants to be banned instead?

After X’s repressive actions, hundreds of thousands in Turkey joined Bluesky, seeking a freer space. Reports of government censorship here are deeply troubling. Don’t squander this trust. This is a critical moment for principled leadership—not silent compromise. @jay.bsky.team

I know this isn't the biggest point, but note the complete absence of criticism for Bukele wearing a black sweater, instead of a shirt and tie. It seems if you are "the world's coolest dictator" and willing to become a US prison annex, turning up looking like a pimp in an off-Broadway musical is ok.
