masked federal agents used multiple canisters of tear gas + other chemical munitions on a crowd of residents in chicago's southeast side around 12:40 p.m.

neighbors had gathered on a residential intersection following a morning during which dozens of border patrol agents terrorized the community.

a bit of context to the neighborhood where all this is going down today; Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish lost 12 who were KIA in Vietnam. There is a large memorial & mural on the corner. Check those names.

105/N. Feds rammed a car that crashed into another, then a foot chase. Neighbors protested. Gas deployed by feds earlier today. Here's what they left behind. A thread of photos. #chicago

A video on other social media showing ICE staging and leaving out of Calumet Park. Isn't there some new city ordinance that disallows this?

Killed a cop as a teenager. My friend Craig Keller broke this story for Chicago Magazine, circa 1996. Don’t have that article handy but here’s a brief Police Memorial Foundation item: cpdmemorial.org/fallen-offic...

Thee quintessential Chicago accent, even over Dennis Farina (whose boss he played in Crime Story). RIP

RIP actor & Chicago native Ron Dean.

He interrogated Dr. Richard Kimble in THE FUGITIVE, he dropped Andy off at detention in THE BREAKFAST CLUB, he was shot by Harvey Dent in THE DARK KNIGHT, he was Marty Crane's poker buddy on FRASIER, and so much more.

One of the neater remnants is the curve of 76th immediately west of the tracks/Skyway at Greenwood. That's where Paul Cornell's watch factory was.
