Ouch. I guess I'm used to US cost of living, where rent for a single room is usually over $1000, and much more in some places. Unless you're in one of the major cities public transport doesn't exist, so you need a car. Add health insurance on top, and that's before you get to food or utilities.

Honestly, the offer isn’t that great. €325/week isn’t enough to live on, but it’s enough to make a big difference. But here's the kicker: for every euro invested, society got €1.39 back. Investing in the arts isn’t an indulgence, it’s sound economics.

One year of U.S. mine waste contains enough lithium to power 10 million electric cars, enough manganese for 99 million EVs, as well as enough cobalt, germanium, and other rare metals to all but wipe out U.S. imports.. Sadly, extracting it is not trivial.

I have to admit, my first draft of Yellow Flowers was imagined in a sort of New Forest inspired setting. When I rewrote it, I shifted it to a more Welsh-inspired setting, and it worked much better.

Okay new idea for a library service: leave a hobby take a hobby. When people get bored with a hobby they can come and leave their supplies and books and half-finished things, and exchange them for someone else’s supplies and books and half-finished things. Hobby swap.

I hate to think how much electricity I consumed in my recent AI-based project. A lot.

If I built a big robot that consumed 33% of my state's electricity so it could go around stealing people's art I would be arrested, and that's how you know law is a social construct.
