Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).
When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.

There's that. But also: Platner, as I understand it, is a business owner who went to an elite college, whose parents were a lawyer and a restaurant owner, and whose grandfather is a successful and famous architect. So it's interesting to ask what "authentic working-class" means in this context.

My dad had only one 1/4" reel in his not-extensive music collection: a dub of the piece "Fractured Mirror," which he dubbed at work from a new LP. He didn't have an open reel machine to listen off of at home. I think he just loved it enough to preserve it on principle

My dad had only one 1/4" reel in his not-extensive music collection: a dub of the piece "Fractured Mirror," which he dubbed at work from a new LP. He didn't have an open reel machine to listen off of at home. I think he just loved it enough to preserve it on principle
