like yeah maybe this is all copium, maybe I could be seen as taking things too personally, but I've met so many people over the years that are so passionate about old media, so passionate and sincere about making a new world with the old, that reducing their efforts to "nostalgia" feels criminal

I know I keep harping on this but I feel weird about how exploration of old media is perceived in 2026
I hear "nostalgia" bandied about more when it always felt like it was about more than that -- my exploration didn't really think about that so much as exploring temporal worlds I never accessed
