The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

As I understand it, Tesla relies solely on cameras for its self drive cars. Others (particularly Chinese built) use LiDar which maps hazards in real time three dimensionally. There’s a YouTube video demonstrating it here.

I find it amazing that even here folk get bent out of shape about throw away comments on a video when their entire country is being stolen out from under them and it slides towards a fascist regime. If only they could manage the same levels of outrage about that.
