My tree of the day — a pedunculate oak, still holding on to its leaves.
Tree of the day is this Japanese maple tree (April and October)
Recent trip to the GoT Studio Tour in Banbridge- it was a lot of fun
An excuse to post the Shakespeare joke I found actually funny...

GLENDOWER:
I can call spirits from the vasty deep.

HOTSPUR:
Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come when you do call for them?

This is such a nice song: a favourite from this year
I get back from holiday and this beautiful track by Big Thief and Laraaji is finally in public domain. Grandmother, from what I think is the best Big Thief album by a long way, Double Infinity.

Tree of the day – a big old sycamore at the Lennon Wall in Prague
I had this little poem in my head all day

By Kobayashi Issa (HT @bashosociety.bsky.social for sharing)
Thanks - I can see the resemblence, but the leaves appear to be v different to stewartia monodelpha. I think its an ornamental cherry of some kind!
Today's tree is this rather special Cedar of Lebanon
I stand by the decision. Looked too good to walk by!
Ha - yes, a poor substitue for the teasle, though mine is sadly on its way out already...
I love it. Such a moving song about accepting loss and change
Family catch-up in Belfast

I love that this plant is someone's favorite. Native over there. Of course it's invasive over here. And personally it's way too "spikey" for my liking. 😂
This teasel plant self-seeded in my garden and is now my favouite. Its about 6ft, with lots of little pools of water where the leaves meet up the stems, making it v popular with insects too
I do like this beech, to the extent I framed a previous photo I took of it!
We might need to consider the effect of the Earth’s long-term axial tilt cycle here also…

Local, middle-aged woman outside the Europa Hotel in Belfast just now: "It's called 28 Years Later but I don't know what it's about - is it the Good Friday Agreement?
Very good! I looked up the pub on streetview, and that’s a very impressive one growing on the wall! And the pub has been in business since the 1600s 😮
