Jacob S. Miller was a railroad man, but to his granddaughter Dorris, he was a storyteller with a train whistle and an open home. “Pick it up,” he’d call. “Lay it down,” she’d answer. A tender memory of railroads, rhythm, and one last game before goodbye.
Call and Response: Railroad Tales of Jacob S. Miller
“Pick it up!” Grandpa Jake chanted, tapping twice on the desk. Dorris stomped her foot, “Lay it down!” They went on like that, his baritone and her alto voice echoing off the walls in the call and response of railroad workers.

🌿 "When my grandma talked about Myrtle, she described a woman who had lived a full, complicated life—one filled with hard work, music, loss, and love. Near the end, when Myrtle felt her time was running short, she asked for the preacher to come up the hill. This is how I imagined that visit."
The Call Up the Hill: Myrtle Payne’s Final Reflections
Myrtle put down the engraved guitar pick she’d been studying and sighed. “I don’t know, Harper. It just feels like my days are numbered, you know? I’m gettin’ old.” She tapped a pile of photographs. “That one’s for Cliff, this one’s for Agnes. And Delmer—any musical stuff goes to him.”

As others have said, the greatest transfer of wealth in US history will not be from the Boomers to their children but from them to the US healthcare system. The US is designed to make people insolvent and to keep them poor once they're there.
Your reminder that fame is not wealth and America is broken.

Mainstream people know him as the cabbie from SCROOGED, but he’s a prolific musician and entertainer who has been at the heart of music since the late ‘70s.

In “Threads of War: Rachel Blackwell’s Memorial Quilt,” a simple quilt becomes a powerful framework for exploring the complex, often uncomfortable truths about war, family, and politics. Through stitches of love and loss, Rachel and her daughters confront history, grief, and the legacies we carry.
Threads of War: Rachel Blackwell’s Memorial Quilt
Rachel Elvira Blackwell’s hands, weathered by time, stitched steadily under the warm glow of the hearth. Around her, daughters laughed and sewed, their quilt a tapestry of family history—threads of war, love, and loss woven into each square. At its heart, a gold star gleamed, honoring sacrifice and memory.

I believe every ancestor has a story to tell, and the joy is in uncovering it. My 3rd great-grandfather Arthur Miller’s obituary mentioned he achieved the highest rank in the Odd Fellows. That led me to explore his journey of Friendship, Love, and Truth.
An Odd Fellow with an Oath: Arthur Miller’s Journey of Friendship, Love, and Truth
Arthur Miller traced the painting's path with a trembling hand. "Friendship, Love, and Truth," he said, "are more than words—they’re a map for life." As he prepared to pass the Noble Grand mantle to his son, he reflected on his journey: a pioneer’s struggles, family sacrifices, and the steadfast bonds of the Odd Fellows.
