DOGE worker says he was radicalized by reading writer who denied Holocaust
In a since-deleted Substack post, a member of Elon Musk's team praised an essay by Ron Unz—who has since called the Holocaust potentially a "hoax" and said Trayvon Martin was "a violent young thug."

hi @dereklowe.bsky.social: have been thinking about this article a lot & would love a Derek Lowe take on it. Tej Parikh argues that booming post pandemic US economy driven by bloated health expenditure; i.e. spending more for subpar outcomes is a feature, not a bug...

Hi @dereklowe.bsky.social have you ever written about the polypharmacology of Amantadine? 1961 influenza drug that crosses the BBB & now used for CNS disorders? Limited studies showing same efficacy as methylphenidate for #ADHD without side effect profile.

Why is the Biden administration silent on the richest man in the world doing the bidding of Putin?

WHY IS HE STILL A FEDERAL GOVT CONTRACTOR???

With the sweeping powers that SCOTUS gave POTUS, is Biden really impotent when it comes to curtailing Musk? Something doesn’t add up. Imagine what Trump would do if he were in Biden’s shoes.

Surprising number of references to drug discovery in this article.

@dereklowe.bsky.social Can quantum computing make a big difference in revolutionizing drug discovery?
Google said its quantum computer needed less than five minutes to perform a mathematical calculation that one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers could not complete in 10 septillion years, a length of time that exceeds the age of the known universe.
Google Makes New Quantum Computing Breakthrough
Google unveiled an experimental machine capable of tasks that a traditional supercomputer could not master in 10 septillion years. (That’s older than the universe.)

Thank you @timnitgebru.bsky.social I have been wondering this for a long time: how to the tech workers enabling people like Musk feel? Is your view an outlier in Silicon Valley?
I was invited to write my reflection on what I thought was a critical moment in tech last year & what it means for the future of tech. I didn't get into tech to build machines primarily used to kill more people more efficiently or help a few men amass billions.

It Trump “fixes” this and saves the system money, Democrats get all the blame for allowing such nonsense to continue. This is common sense.

The reason y'all call zucchini courgette and eggplant aubergine is because of a posh food fad that stole words from French. Eggplant is actually the older English word.

Looking forward to Nav 1.7 data! Could be transformative for patients. @dereklowe.bsky.social
It's a superb target and the nonclinical data they published are compelling - as are the Sangamo data (Brian Zeitler I think presented these at least a year ago if not more).
I am glad at least one company is taking this to clinic (and of course I'm emotionally biased here to Sangamo).

Hi @dereklowe.bsky.social given positive data for Fabry, Prion, and clearance of IND for neuropathic pain ( Nav 1.7), I’d be curious on what you think of slide below on potential targets for other monogenic diseases enabled by Sangamo’s STAC BBB capsid. See thread below.
If Sangamo's novel STAC-BBB Capsid is successful, isn't this one of the most exciting and extraordinary opportunities in genomic medicine? The pipeline is truly limitless. Initial Prion data looks promising - how can that be replicated across other monogenic diseases? cc: @urnov.bsky.social
