This account does not belong to a poet, education worker, or scholar. Who'd want to read Fugue & Strike (Black Ocean, 2023) & People Finder, Buffalo (Cloak, 2024) and etc? Garbage, labor obsessed.

thx to Anthony Paul Farley's article on Temporal Power for kick-starting my brain this morning

the nerd reich owes a lot to Francis Bacon at his most deranged. also, silicon valley techno-facism (like all forms of western capitalism) doesn't just enclose, it makes common to its class financial resources, the bodies of racialized populations, pig power (ICE), the earth as absolute property

Hah! On the money. At best a way to add some undue moral glory to the normal flattery, sycophancy, and aesthetic conformity that goes with economies of clout. At worst, a way to excuse harmful behavior..."Well, the ARE A good literary citizen."

Abolish the category of literary. And citizen. And literary citizen.

and has spent decades trying to destroy the power of the arab working classes. will liberals and progressives be able to maintain their fledgling solidarity with palestinians & extend it the other victims or U.S.-Israel aggression or will they fall for reheated rah rah regime-change orientalism?

mindful of the lessening direct violence marked by the ceasefire in gaza. mindful that enormous shipments of arms are on their way to israel (including ammo casings from Buffalo) and that the war & genocide machine requires destruction, somewhere, to cohere

columbus was definitely a p.o.s. but i think israel is showing us that history is not progressive and that western culture is marked by both the recurrence and mutation of settler-colonial savagery

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.
But too many of the slaves died in captivity. And so Columbus, desperate to pay back dividends to those who had in-vested, had to make good his promise to fill the ships with gold. In the province of Cicao on Haiti, where he and his men imagined huge gold fields to exist, they ordered all persons fourteen years or older to collect a certain quantity of gold every three months. When they brought it, they were given copper tokens to hang around their necks. Indians found without a copper token had their hands cut off and bled to death.
The Indians had been given an impossible task. The only gold around was bits of dust garnered from the streams. So they fled, were hunted down with dogs, and were killed. After each six or eight months' work in the mines, which was the time required of each crew to dig enough gold for melting, up to a third of the men died.
While the men were sent many miles away to the mines, the wives remained to work the soil, forced into the excruciating job of digging and making thousands of hills for cassava plants.
Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they met they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides... they ceased to pro-create. As for the newly born, they died early because their mothers, overworked and fam-ished, had no milk to nurse them, and for this reason, while I was in Cuba, 7000 children died in three months. Some mothers even drowned their babies from sheer desper-ation.... In this way, husbands died in the mines, wives died at work, and children died from lack of milk ... and in a short time this land which was so great, so powerful and fer-tile... was depopulated... My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as I write....

The ceasefire is not a ceasefire. Not in Lebanon, not in West Bank, not in Gaza. Mere 'ceasefire' in Gaza sees Israeli ongoing settler colonialism & genocide. Israel bombs Lebanon almost daily, killing people, destroying 300 pieces of heavy machinery necessary to rebuild. podur.org/2025/10/12/a...

"The initial troop withdrawal line is well within Gaza, with the Israeli military still controlling 56% of the enclave....While a deal was reached on “phase one” of a ceasefire, details of how the plan will advance beyond that remain murky."

In Milton's heaven, all the angels face God as mirrors for his glory. In our current hell, every mirror pointed at the sovereign must be smashed. Both are kinda totalitarian. That said, I think Milton wasn't that interested in heaven.

Republican policy is increasingly framed around the idea that accurately describing what they are doing is worse than doing it.

They just got a Supreme Court ruling co-signing racial profiling as "common sense." So I guess the court smeared them.
