"Review your year on Steam"

Hey, it's been a rough year, Steam. I don't need your judgment about how much time I've spent playing video games.

I've gone through periods of interest in detective fiction, and one of the things I've struggled with is the reactionary nature of the genre. I've often wondered, what would it look like to tell a story like this through a restorative rather than retributive justice lens? Is that even possible?
We Need More Leftist Crime Fiction
Critics of crime fiction dismiss the genre as hopelessly reactionary, but its history tells a different story. From hard-boiled American detective novels to the explosion of Scandi-noir, crime fiction...

I’ve had two songs stuck in my head the last few days. One is “Radio” by Bershy, which was in Dispatch, and it slaps. The other is “We Are Charlie Kirk”, which is what I imagine they use to torture souls in Hell. It’s like the angel and devil on my shoulders are having a battle of the bands.

Can we please stop with the thing where people pretend to not be able to pronounce names like Mamdani or Kamala? I can tell that you're pretending because every once in a while you'll accidentally say it correctly, stop yourself, and then go back to mispronounce it.

Dispatch gives me a very similar feeling to Old Skies in that they're both excellent games, but the corporation your character works for is completely evil and it's vaguely upsetting that no one within the universe of the game ever points that out.

I feel like what I really need in my life right now is a magical holiday adventure that will teach me a valuable lesson about the true meaning of Christmas, but I didn't grow up in a small town. What do I do?

Would I wear this? Hard to say. According to the J.Crew website, it’s 100% wool. So it’s already better than any cotton polyester blend sweater you’ll find at Target. And the pattern is from the Shetland Islands, and you know that the Scottish know how to make a great sweater.

Microsoft's insistence on getting me to "upgrade" to Windows 11 is really making me reconsider switching to a Mac.

I will admit to being a bit of an @aoc.bsky.social stan, but I’m struggling with this one. The shutdown vote was too deep of a betrayal for me to feel comfortable trusting any Dem who isn’t pushing for Schumer’s removal. And Jeffries saying he should stay in leadership means he needs to go too.

Then Jeffries also needs to be removed from leadership immediately. At this point, calling for Schumer’s removal needs to be a litmus test for any Democrat to be trusted.

“Yes and yes,” the House minority leader told reporters when asked if Schumer was effective and should keep his job.

Saw this the other day, and the cereal consumer in me was like, "Oh, maybe I should get one." But then the anti-consumerist in me was like, "FFS, it's cereal! It's already designed for convenience! Just let us sit down for ten damn minutes and enjoy a bowl of cereal!"

Guys, stop saying that @fetterman.senate.gov caved. That’s not fair. He was onboard with Republicans’ plan to ruin the lives of millions of Americans and kill thousands of people per year from the very beginning. It’s technically not caving if the cave is just where you live.

But I thought Republicans liked prayer at federal facilities. You know… freedom of religion. End the persecution of Christians.

If I didn’t know any better, I might think that they don’t even actually care about Jesus’s teachings at all.

The framing of this is hilarious: Democrats deeply worried about the repercussions of a victory

As Mamdani nears victory, Democrats worry about national fallout
The progressive candidate is on the cusp of a historic mayoral win. And that's adding to unease among Democrats looking for a way back to national power.

But I thought the government can’t tell grocery stores how to set their prices. You know… price fixing. Free market.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
