Differentvrealms are affected by magic differently. Ganzer, for one, has 4 regions (5 if we include the city state Kiurshii) and each region's geography is determined by which element is strongest there - e.g. Kiurizi has a lot of active volcanoes, Kiurmer has plateaus, windsweot plains, & karst.

Back in his Kill Your Darlings days, Gavin and the rest of the band used to hole up in his cabin in the woods for half a month every summer to work on new material, so that's what their vacation would be - two weeks at the cabin, no tech, no supernatural BS, just the band, Eli, Vale, and Darien.

Gavin can weaken spirits to make them easier for Vale to command. Darien can use his faerie magic to compel the living or hide a friend or set up an attack from the rear via portal magic. Eli and Shamash's elements are complementary, so they power each other up.

Lukas: Yeah we've got tweakers and abusers but Jacks the Rippers? Never!

White text on a black field: This was all wrong. Paxton was a lot of things - a glue trap that few ever truly escaped; a stagnant economy that only sustained itself by leeching off the bigger cities nearby; a conservative hell hole prohibited from even having a parade during Pride; a bastion of tweakers and unaddressed domestic violence. But unsafe? Never. Random acts of violence were unheard of; that was Salem shit. And yet here he was.

The pool of his own fluids grew a little with every beat of his heart, spreading across the pavement like a horrible sea. Not for much longer, though, because he could feel his heart freezing in his chest. It was getting harder and harder to breathe and his thoughts were taking on a fuzzy quality that couldn't be good.

18. Saturday Snippet: Lukas has beef with these horses, dawg.

The unicorns were fast but Lukas was somehow faster and it wasn't long before he was keeping pace with Ríoghán. “Alright, you stupid magic horse, where's my friend?” The stallion whinnied and shoved into him, jabbing wildly with his horn, and Lukas fell behind for a second in his efforts to evade the attack. “If you ate her, I swear to god…!” He grabbed a fistful of shimmering black mane and hoisted himself onto Ríoghán's back. “C'mon big guy. Take me to- whooaaah!”

As quickly as Lukas had mounted the beast, he found himself hitting the ground like a sack of rocks as Ríoghán dug his hooves in and came skidding to a stop. He glared down at Lukas as the rest of the herd galloped past. Spurred on by visions of being stomped into a fine, sentient paste, Lukas jumped to his feet and squared off with him.

Ganzer, for example, is sort of early modern (no guns, gestating industry, yes trains) - transportation being the thing they most need tech to solve.

The Far Forest is even more archaic, kinda being in medieval stasis from lack of external impetus to innovate.

Depends on the realm within the setting. Earth's modern day Earth, w/ all the associated tech. Most other realms are antiquated by comparison, usually because they have magic to do what we accomplish via tech. It's also a due to timey-wimey stuff.

12. Nabu is the first corporeal entity to use magic to try to kill Vale and it makes her feel especially helpless and she relieved when he dies. Vale is unaware of Cassie until she accrues enough power to fully possess Vale; Cassie thinks Vale is dumb for reigning in her own desires.

11. Saturday Snippet:

Lukas was later seen showing Tuktuk the Coinstar in his local Walmart.

One second he had a handful of change and the next his hand was empty and Tuktuk was smacking its lips, despite its lack of anything that could confidently be called a mouth. “Ooh, good mix bigjob! More! More!” Lukas couldn't even begin to describe how the change had been taken from his hand and consumed, just that it had been.

“I'm out, man. But I'll show you where you can get more if you show me where the unicorns went.”
