God I needed to read this. I've been art blocked for about three or four-ish years now? Primarily due to severe depression, but also some health issues. I need to just... pick up the pen and doodle again no matter how I feel. Maybe that spark will reignite.

This is the single most important advice any creative person needs to hear.

There are of course factors such as financial insecurity or mental and physical impediments (spoons ≠ motivation even though people will tell you they are the same) but when you can, do, whether you feel inspired or not.

A big misconception is that you need to be motivated to get rolling.
You don't.
Research: Motivation often FOLLOWS action, not the other way around.
In Practice: You don't need to feel good to get going; you need to get going to give yourself a chance at feeling good.
