My dream... my neighbour's children can go from our street to anywhere in Exeter without having to use a car just to be safe. Is that so radical?

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Good. Let’s not let it go away. This man wants to be Britain’s next PM. His denials and obfuscations around his long history of repulsive behaviour show that he is utterly unfit.

We went to Paris to launch a fake brand campaign for the bank Société Générale.

Société Générale said they’d stop funding coal.

But instead underwrote a $409 million a bond to the world’s largest private coal company (through one of their subsidiaries).

Three times in the last fortnight, while #cycling, I've had drivers pass me wide while overtaking - but doing so they've driven into the path of an oncoming cyclist. Is it too much to hope drivers show basic competency in driving?

Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

Help please. Does anyone know of an app that let's a smallish group (eg up to 50 members) arrange #liftshare to occasional events?

We'll be pulling from a wideish area in Devon with different destinations on each meet.

The evidence in favour of 20 mph speed limits is overwhelming, cheaper insurance, less emissions, less car crashes, it saves the NHS, Police and councils money. But Gary from Port Talbot's commute now takes 42 minutes instead of 40 so it simply must go.

Compare and contrast the Government language.

£3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’.

Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’.

And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.

Human Rights Watch says Israel forcibly displaced 32,000 Palestinians from three camps in the occupied West Bank during “Operation Iron Wall”, calling it a war crime and urging investigations into senior officials, including PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

😮 A sobering statistic for Road Safety Week... In the UK, SUVs are three times more likely to kill a child under the age of 10 and heavier cars are more likely to be involved in fatal collisions.

Bits of Exeter's Green Circle are my everyday cycle links. I've fedback on parts hard to cycle or wheel with a disability.

Maybe you know other sections well & how it could be improved for those using 🧑‍🦽🚲?
Why not complete the survey & get some improvements?

Yesterday this quietly turned over to 8000 miles.

That's 8000 miles less driven.
Less pollution
Less noise
Less road danger
Less road damage
No fossil fuels burned.

You're welcome Exeter.
