“To be embodied means that we are guided by our instincts, whilst simultaneously having the opportunity to be self-aware of that guidance. This self-awareness requires us to recognize and track our sensations and feelings. 🧵

edpsy.org.uk/blog/2025/su... proud to share this amazing article by my friends and colleagues Nicole Harris and Bee Hartwell ✨ prioritising connection with nature outside and within us is so vital for our wellbeing, learning and attention: definitely the business of schools. Give it a read 🫶🏻🌱

Excellent thesis by a colleague, Rebecca Wright, about colonial 'haunting' of Educational Psychology. I am still reading it, and so far it is super powerful and utterly brilliant.

The idea of IFS is simple but radical: your mind isn't a single entity, it's a constellation of different "parts". We're not here to pathologize or "fix" you. Instead, we're here to help you get to know the unique inner community you already have,. It's about a conversation, not a conquest. 🤝
An illustrative and surreal image featuring a black cat silhouette against a gradient purple background. Inside the cat's body, a staircase of smaller cats ascends, representing the concept of "parts" from Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. The larger cat wears a striped beanie, and the text "Mental Health for the Common Good" is prominently displayed to its right. The Seshio logo is in the bottom right corner, and it says to Learn more at Seshio.org.

Something I find fascinating is how some people have started using the word 'instruction' rather than 'education'. I think its probably linked to the idea that learning = memory and that this is being 'delivered' to learners, rather than learning being a relational, interactive experience.

Placing children’s wellbeing and their engagement in society as central purposes of education may reduce some of the conflict in the system…this is a great article considering systemic factors of EBSNA & difficulties in home-school relationships #edpsychs

That is awesome. We are so victims of our conditioning until we start the exploration of our biases and burdens. IFS is such a helpful tool for doing that ✨

Maybe not in your camp of interest but "No Bad Parts" by Dr. Schwartz, who developed the IFS model of healing. Life Changing.

The only thing that permanently helped me with my inner issues. IMHO should be compulsory reading if you're human. It's eye-opening and nails how the subconscious works 🧠

Love your courage to reflect upon and share this 🫶🏻

Perspective taking involves examining our own lenses that shape our perception especially when cultural stories have often come from dominant cultures, which likely serve privilege and power. Questioning our need to KNOW is a part of this process. Being a learner (curious, don’t know mind) is key

The billionaire press barons must be having a right laugh…

Here we are distracted & arguing over asylum seekers (0.2% of the population)

Meanwhile, billionaires (just 0.0002% of the population) hoard more wealth than half the UK

Immigration isn’t draining us

Inequality is.

I don’t have anxiety. It has me. So I can’t “let it go.” I must let it stay. And this changes everything :)

Whilst it can be tempting to want simple answers about how to be culturally competent in our work… this work is about responsivity - having the courage to stay in a ‘not knowing’ position, which is a consistent inquiry, asking questions with curiosity both inwardly & with our clients and consultees

Compassionate Parenting #2 What is Compassion?

👋 Thought for the week:
Compassion is often misunderstood as being ‘soft’. Compassion can be tough and gritty. It means staying with hard feelings, repairing after conflict & putting effort into wisdom & care ⏬
