The lichen has a coral like quality to its structure and is silvery green in colour, dusted with brown fallen leaves 🍂 in the background are the trunks of birch trees creating a border to the image fully across it’s horizontal axis. The day is overcast but bright enough.

A photograph of a child’s high street carousel, smaller than the traditional that feature prancing horses. Instead it has a range of vehicles and is suitable for smaller children even toddlers. In the image two (presumed) mothers stand apart with hands in pockets watching small children. A little aside in a red and white wool hat is a man in a black overcoat. To the right are visible high street standard outlets including a well known sandwich shop and bank. In the foreground is a barrier, blocking the street from vehicles and rows of empty cafe tables. It’s an overcast day and although only mid afternoon the light is failing. It’s in my mind a scene, a little gloomy, representative of the challenge faced by less trendy beach towns in this part of the UK and wider socioeconomic issues and inequality. It has a flag problem elsewhere that I wonder about capturing and for now choose not to.

A photograph of a display case prominently containing Sindy Dolls, Barbie’s rival perhaps. 4 or 5 are visible in a variety of outfits and poses. Summer Sindy, Keep Fit Sindy etc. Notably they have different expressions, some a little sad in appearance. To the rear of the case are two Barbie Dolls one with what appears to be an ill fitting bicycle helmet on her head and inexplicably in a bikini top. I think. In my mind Sindy was (perceived in my childhood) more wholesome than her American cousin. This is of course nonsense/projection and I find it interesting that this image/display made me think of the two doll types as rival groups. Oh lawd stop thinking these thoughts 🤩 I have also forgotten to mention two odd small egg shaped seemingly male ‘toys’ lurking at the bottom of the case, goodness alone knows what one could project onto them if one procrastinated further.

A photograph taken at hip height from an oblique position of an alley way on a brightish day, late afternoon. Visible in the foreground is a black roller shutter door of a garage and a wooden fence panel. On the opposite side of the access route principally used by pedestrians is a brick wall with Ivy trailing down it and a further garage door. Both are black or dark in colour but spray painted with graffiti in shades of vibrant blue which pops against the black. The sky is a bright blue in spite of the hour flecked with minimal clouds. Albeit the darkness of the road/pavement hints that it’s rained recently. It’s unlikely the garages store cars as intended as they seem now too small to reasonably do so. A variety of vegetation adorns its fringes and in places thrives within it.

The day is overcast giving the water a silver quality. Visible in the water are the reflection of trees on the banks and of course the birds. There is contrast to a point between the white of the adult swans, the grey of the maturing cygnets and the black appearance of the trees. The water’s surface is still aside from the ripples cast by the birds movement.

On the opposite side of the narrow street are period properties with ornate (sort of) windows. A fixed bollard is at an angle presumable having performed its function as deterrent. A lamppost is I think originally Victorian. The Sky is blue on a sunny day enhancing the white of various walls. A cobblestone pavement and more contemporary equivalent can also be seen.
