Meaningful citizen engagement, deliberative processes, actively supporting community grasssroots initiatives - vital. There is no single action or policy which can address our complex challenges. Diversity and freeing collective wisdom provide our best chance. @peoplepowered.org
Mamdani: Oftentimes when we win elections, we tell people to go home and just trust us. But the message really has to be that we want you to come along with us… That’s something we’ve been looking to share with New Yorkers: We want to not only win with New Yorkers, but also govern with New Yorkers.

UK media keeping public ignorant. Appeal questioning UK government classification of Palestine Action - as a terrorist organisation received no meaningful coverage. Arbitrary state action - no other “allied countries” shares this questionable position. UK justice?

Absurd. Police attempt to arrest the Jewish daughter of a Holocaust survivor for holding a cardboard sign in opposition to genocide and the proscribing of Palestine Action… later de-arrested.

We will not know the outcome of today’s appeal for some time, but the defendants brought very strong evidence to suggest that they did not receive a fair trial as a result of Silas Reid’s remarks.

There is nothing “fair” about the removal of trial by jury.

Juries put the moral intuition of ordinary people into the heart of the criminal justice system. We must defend our juries.

What’s the most valuable skill for talking persuasively about climate change and helping stimulate people into action?

It’s not the ability to debate or remember statistics. In fact it's got nothing to do with science at all

I think it’s listening

Come to the UK if you wish to see how turning housing /land into a financial asset (ie profit generating vehicle for wealthy & international “investors) impoverishes residents and communities. It promotes mass poverty and accelerates wealth concentration into fewer hands. &Underpinned by Tax system

It is not just, or even primarily, about the license fee. Do the people of the country want a fact seeking, diverse national news/culture media outlet which is not serving party in power
or special interests? If so, what are some options/alternatives to ensure it is “independent”. Then financing.

UK legal profession and media remains largely silent as government dismantles rights of the people it is meant to protect. We give the government legitimacy by remaining silent. Together we have power. #goodlawproject
' A defendant's right to a jury trial would be restricted to prevent them from "gaming the system", Lammy also said. '

WTF is that supposed to mean?!?

Jurors have an absolute right to acquit a defendant based on their conscience - THAT IS THE SYSTEM

As long as UK property is primarily seen as financial asset for global capital markets, instead of place where its people can build a community , grow food it needs, sustain natural environment necessary for well -being, people of the country will be at mercy of investors. Does this make sense?
"The core of our problem in the UK is housing. Using long-term nationwide data, John noted that the average UK house in 1956 – the year of his birth – cost £1,884.

By 2025, that figure was £271,000. That is a 144-fold rise in nominal terms"
Is Britain at the peak of a great financial wave?
Britain is living at the end of a decades-long inflationary wave. What comes next depends on whether we confront our financial model
