Trying. To be the change I want to see and share the joy of life as much as I can.
May all our lives be enriched with peace, health, and happiness and until we All have those, may we All find the strength to make this a shared reality.

As the Trump administration continues to ramp up its immigration agenda, taxpayers are left footing the bill.

A new report from @bloomberg.com shows that on average, it costs more $17,000 to detain and deport a single person.

The U.S. unemployment rate just hit a four-year high at 4.4%. Now, try wrapping your head around the idea of a 43% unemployment rate.

That’s the reality formerly incarcerated Black women face, thanks to the prison penalty:

What I'd really like is new research on whether there've been any improvements in the racial & gender disparities in facial recognition systems in the past 5 yrs. Run the baselines again, see who & what it gets wrong, in what contexts. We know the effects (👇🏾; ≥10, now, btw), & need more process data
Artificial Intelligence is Putting Innocent People at Risk of Being Incarcerated
There are at least seven confirmed cases of misidentification due to facial recognition technology, six of which involve Black people .

It’s blowing my mind that schools, universities, public services would run headlong into this. We spent 15 years documenting black boxes. This is a black box in a black hole!
I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

Scammers are posing as immigration attorneys or government officials and demanding large upfront payments and in some cases, it’s hard to tell whether they’re scammers or untrained ICE personnel. Once they get the money, they disappear, leaving families without real help and with even fewer options.

In remote Alaska, public radio stations like KYUK provide lifesaving information during natural disasters.

But Trump cut funds for public media, and that could mean deadly consequences for the rural community.
