Hello #Bluesky community! Reintroducing myself here since there's been a deluge of people leaving the Upside Down.

I teach elementary Band and Orchestra in grades 4-6. I married my best friend and have two amazing children. Never met a pizza I didn't like.

It is weird. The older I get, the more abstract "expected" life milestones become. When you're a kid you advance a grade, get your growth spurt, start/finish high school on relatively predictable timeline. After that things just kinda happen or don't happen. What's a milestone for 28? 37? 41? 🤷🏼‍♂️

When I was 37 my 8th graders guessed I was 52.

When I told them my actual age they were genuinely worried about my well being. "Mister?? What happened to you??" 😭

The whole premise of a for profit company providing testing services bothers me. Like, of course kids do poorly on your test, that's how you get schools to keep buying the test In the first place!
