The government has recovered £74m from excessive profits made by companies running asylum accommodation, the BBC can reveal.

The Home Office said it had recouped the money following a review of contracts after Labour came to power last year.

My friend Mark Mardell was chucked off his Turkish Airlines flight at the weekend because he had Parkinson’s and his son had asked for assistance for him. (He’s written about it as a public post on Facebook but the link is proving hard to share outside,)

Are we all in agreement that fungi are the best thing about autumn? These incredible specimens were snapped by Siân Lloyd in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). You can find fungi in damp, shady areas, particularly in woodlands.
