The bar has suffered there. Each person probably would have bought two more beers if he hadn’t destroyed Humphries with such speed.

#Homelessness is all around us. People are literally dying on our streets! Did you know that 1611 homeless people died in 2024? Walthamstow Lib Dem activist Alan Jones went to a London vigil organised by the Museum of Homelessness (@ourmoh.bsky.social ) on Thursday to highlight this tragedy🧵1/4

“A phased removal would help mitigate the financial impact on residents”.

An absolute insult. What would help mitigate the financial impact is a reversal of this decision!

It's notable how different this 'fragmentation' is from, e.g., that of first half of 2019, which saw big gains for independents too. Now it's much more repolarisation around two different parties rather than across the board fragmentation.

We echo our Diversity Officer @faizlibdem.bsky.social statement by extending our thoughts and prayers to the victims of today’s heinous attack outside a synagogue in Manchester on the holiest of days for Jews, Yom Kippur.

“Acts of violence or hatred will never succeed in dividing us.”

Keir Starmer wants to force everyone to have a digital ID.

But the Liberal Democrats say that’s not the kind of country we should be. Instead, the government should focus on fixing real problems like the NHS and social care.

Dennis Healey is another one. Too abrasive a character perhaps, but was an internationally recognised politician by the end of the 74-79 Labour Government. Then there’s Benn. Hugely popular in left circles but couldn’t command popular support across the party. Both better suited than Michael Foot.

He knows it’s a lie. He knows it’s complete bollocks. He wants to whip up anger. He wants to inflame tensions. He thrives off division and hate. Either that or he’s a crank not to be taken remotely seriously.

"What the 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 is Farage doing?"

That's easy to answer – he's copying Donald Trump by claiming migrants in the UK are stealing and eating swans from UK parks.

It's a lie, but that won't stop some people believing every word he says

An excellent article and essential read on the need for electoral reform by our own Alan Jones!!

Reform, with 0.6% of all MPs, featured in 25% of BBC’s recent 10pm news bulletins

The Lib Dems with 18 times as many MPs as Reform has received one-third less coverage on BBC News at 10.

Reform was also allowed to 'make many claims without scrutiny'.

When the Libdems were on over 20% in the opinion polls and came second in the EU elections, they didn't get more coverage than the Tories and Labour . 🤷🏽‍♀️

The Labour Mayor’s promise to keep a front desk open in every borough was always going to be broken. He’s closed enough front desks already. These are places of refuge, particularly for those fleeing domestic violence. That there will no longer be a single front desk in Waltham Forest is a disgrace.

I’ve written to Ofcom urging them to review the BBC’s coverage of Nigel Farage and Reform to see if it is line with broadcast guidance.

The disproportionate coverage of Farage is damaging to the BBC’s reputation as well as our democracy.

Farage and Badenoch were straight out of the blocks to criticise Angela Rayner. Badenoch says Starmer didn’t need to wait for an ethics report.

Rayner made a mistake in not seeking specialist tax advice, but I sense that she is not the biggest problem here.

Today marks 700 days in captivity for those abducted by Hamas terrorists. I am thinking of them and their families, desperate for their release. Hamas has no place in Gaza's future. It must immediately and unconditionally release the hostages.
