Though for gut-wrenching fear that is beyond any mitigation:

RO rejects DNO forms.

I've tried something a little different from my polling newsletter, out at 6pm today.

Welcome to the 182nd edition of The Week in Polls (TWIP), which takes a look at polling related to whether it would be okay for the House of Lords to vote down legislation for assisted dying. I also give a couple of AI platforms a go to see if they can do better than the newspaper report.

"During Hate Crime Awareness Week, we call on everyone - individuals, organisations and political leaders - to stand up against hate, support those affected, and help build a society where everyone can live free from fear, prejudice and discrimination."

"National Hate Crime Awareness Week is a powerful reminder that hatred and prejudice continue to have a devastating impact on far too many people across the UK.
No one should have to suffer or live in fear simply because of their identity.
The Liberal Democrats say: enough is enough."

Think that is due to the party's appeal being a mix of attitudinal and geographic, and so cuts across demographics.

Although pollsters vary in their detail, on balance the evidence is that LDs do as well or a bit better with younger voters. Which contradicts some of the cliches about Coalition. As to why the overall evenness of support, that goes back to days of the Alliance and even earlier.

A stonker of a night for us. Three huge wins, Reform nowhere near us and the Tories down to ten percent in Mel Stride’s own seat.

We are the only party taking Farage on and the only party beating him.

... that lots of time treating symptoms means you end up having no time to treat the cause, though I wonder what your perspective is on the idea that treating the symptoms means you're better informed about what the causes might be and how to tackle them?
markpackuk.bsky.social
I think you did pretty well at doing both :)

I think also though we tend to look down on 'treating the symptoms' as if that's not a good thing in itself. E.g. we don't disparage taking an aspirin if you have a headache because it's only 'treating the symptoms'. This is of course the risk...

If I understand the methodology correctly, an 18 year old working in a museum shop counts as 'Establishment'. Which seems an unusual definition?

Very striking how different the answers among the "Establishment" are by age, making the age weighting very important.

To me, the most significant part of these findings seems to be the huge variation between different panel providers. Which highlights the value in knowing where a poll's panel data has come from, something that otherwise good polling transparency rules in the UK doesn't really tackle?

Hang on, don't you write newspaper columns Rob... :)

It's a two member ward that split Labour and Reform last time, and hence those vote share changes showing Labour top last time.

What's the best column of his that you'd point people to in order to dispel scepticism about him? (I mainly come across his pieces when others are rubbishing them, which I know comes with a lot of selection bias.)
