Echoing Ed’s comments, hoping for healing for the hostage families, whilst also thinking of those families whose loved ones won’t be returning after being killed during this horrific 2 year conflict 🎗️🙏💔

Last year I met Itzik Horn, whose two sons were being held captive by Hamas. Yair was released earlier this year and today I am overjoyed that Eitan is also going home.

I cannot imagine the trauma their family has suffered, and I pray they can now start to heal and move forward.
Ed Davey meets Itzik Horn, father of two men held captive by Hamas.

Hey gorgeous new followers! Thank you for the support.
We are a small community led museum in a park in North London.
We are outspoken about the things that matter to people who are homeless.
We do a lot of community action work.
And we find joy together and share it online.
Have a great day ❤️

“Even that’s not a complete figure, as there is no central register for this type of data about people dying while homeless, which is largely gleaned from FOI requests,” said Alan Jones of WFLD.

“It was an emotional event. It didn't affect me until the reading stopped & the hugs began,” said WFLD activist @aej50.uk , who has lived experience of the issue.

“It's appalling that only 275 names are known of the 1611 that died in 2024,” he added. 3/4

Thursday's vigil at St Martin-in-the-Fields to remember people who'd died while homeless was the biggest turnout to date. Candles were lit on the steps, as @aej50.uk joined 13 others to read out the names of 275 of the 1611 people who’d lost their lives on the streets in 2024. 2/4

#Homelessness is all around us. People are literally dying on our streets! Did you know that 1611 homeless people died in 2024? Walthamstow Lib Dem activist Alan Jones went to a London vigil organised by the Museum of Homelessness (@ourmoh.bsky.social ) on Thursday to highlight this tragedy🧵1/4

People like Robert Jenrick and Nigel Farage are increasingly looking at people who are not white and suggesting that they can't be British.

That in itself is fundamentally un-British.

Hospice care is vital, but right now, it’s a postcode lottery.

@AlisonEBennett.bsky.social explains the Lib Dems’ new policy to guarantee fair funding and make sure hospices have what they need to give everyone the care they deserve.

It's notable how different this 'fragmentation' is from, e.g., that of first half of 2019, which saw big gains for independents too. Now it's much more repolarisation around two different parties rather than across the board fragmentation.

On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz and with the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day.
On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz – the two men tragically killed outside their synagogue yesterday – and with the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day.
Antisemitism, terrorism and hatred can be defeated. But only if we all stand united against them. This attack didn’t happen in a vacuum. Antisemitism is rife on Britain’s streets. British Jews have been living in fear, especially since Hamas’s horrific terror attacks of October 7th.
That must end now. We all must come together to make sure our Jewish friends and neighbours feel safe walking on their streets and worshipping at their synagogues.
Those who preach antisemitic hatred, those who incite violence against Jews – whether online, on marches or anywhere else – must be stopped. It is never acceptable.
I know that, together, we can make sure that our British values of decency, tolerance and respect will prevail.

We echo our Diversity Officer @faizlibdem.bsky.social statement by extending our thoughts and prayers to the victims of today’s heinous attack outside a synagogue in Manchester on the holiest of days for Jews, Yom Kippur.

“Acts of violence or hatred will never succeed in dividing us.”

Nigel Farage had described Reform UK’s ex Wales leader & fellow Brexit MEP Nathan Gill as an “honest, decent, honourable man”, yet he’s been found guilty of accepting bribes from Russia!!

"Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly."

Nigel Farage is on the side of Elon Musk, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Liberal Democrats are on the side of the British people.
